    Swiss Religious Architecture

Here are some photos of churches that can be found in Switzerland:

    1.) Bell tower in Lugano

2.) Catholic church on Mt. San Salvatore, Lugano

3.) Reformed church in the old town of Biel-Bienne

    4.) Evangelical church in Lausanne

    5.) Catholic church in Neuchatel

Sidenote: There are also Thai Buddhist temples, Tibetan Buddhist temples, Jewish synagogues, Christian Orthodox churches, Pentecostal churches, and some 'backyard mosques' (without minarets) all over Switzerland. One can say that there is religious freedom in this country. However, a number of Swiss people are allegedly becoming concerned with the growing number of Muslim people migrating to Switzerland and raising their families here. To date, there are about 400,000 Muslims in Switzerland, which comprise nearly five percent of the total population.

Fast Facts: 42% of the Swiss population (7.6 million) are Catholics; 33% are Protestants (the official Reformed church);  and the rest are other Christian denominations (4.2%), Muslims (about 5%), Hindus (0.4%), Buddhists (0.3%), Jews (0.3%), and "without religious affiliation."
