Worldwide Candle Lighting in Second Life
Thirty-three candles with thirty-three names marked the third Worldwide Candle Lighting in Second Life, held in conjunction with The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting on Sunday, December 13, 2009. Bereaved parents, siblings, and friends gathered at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Second Life at 7p SLT (PST) to remember the lives of children that have been lost. People submitted photos of their loved ones for inclusion on the remembrance wall while candles floated in the sanctuary pond, each marked with the names and life dates of lost children. After a brief service, participants told stories about their loved ones, sharing their laughter and their tears. The memorial will remain up through Wednesday, December 16, at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Lovelace/36/33/22.
