Shine the Light on Violence Against Women

A brilliant light show ended the 16 Days of Activism to Eliminate Violence Against Women in Second Life. The Light Show is a special music, show dance, and Secondlife special effects extravaganza, which is only presented on very special occasions.  In this case, we are ending the 16 Days Campaign with a big bang, 16 Days dedicated to revealing the global shame committed by men abusing, raping, mutilating, and killing women. All over the planet, every day, especially in places like Afghanistan where 87% of women are beaten frequently. Not kidding. This MUST stop! See my Afghan Truth in SL iReport: http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-348303

Where ever we focus our attention, there is light and healing. Evil cannot stand the light of day; being revealed in all its ugliness That's kind of what journalism is all about. Anyways...

Picture 1 is Blanche Argus dancing in The Light Show. Blanche is a dear friend; we've danced on stage many times in early editions of this show and in the international cast of  the SL Rock Opera: The Rings.

Picture 2 shows Blanche (left) and Medora Chevalier (right) flying into our hearts! They are on the light stage created by Jannne Janus, the brilliant Secondlife particle programmer who masterminded "The Light Show." See the Earth & Sun above center stage in all these pictures: That's Jannne's SL avi! He's a big star... literally! Jannne is also one of the nicest cheerful people you could ever imagine to meet. A super techno-wizard and way way fun!

Picture 3 is the superstar of The Light Show, Junivers Stockholm. Junivers sings live and plays electric guitar in the show. He is one of SL's special gems, a man who composes and stars in many wonderful SL shows such as The Rings and The Wall V2.

Picture 4 is Szavanna Anatra. She is director of a South African charity organisation in real life (RL) called Open Cafe. Open Cafe is a community group that teaches young people about technology and empowers youths to join modern society through experiencing Ubuntu (an open source Linux PC operating system) and other technological marvels. Picture 5 is Siri Vita, the co-director of PeaceTrain in SL. PeaceTrain runs an annual festival; kind of like the real Woodstock of SL, a week-long celebration of peace, sistership, and brotherhood every summer, usually early August. Siri is also extremely involved in SL activism, she is the master SL scheduler of 16 Days Campaign in SL and numerous other causes. She studied very hard to bring the Iranian Green Revolution into Second Life, which inspired me to pursue a similar agenda for Afghanistan. Thanks to Siri and all my SL friends, especially Trill Zapatero, we were blessed with some very exciting positive outcomes for ordinary Afghani people. Picture 6 shows you the entire stage and Jannne's amazing light show grand finale. I was very very blessed to be able to cover this story. Previously I was dancing in these kinds of shows and NEVER got to see them! Oy! This show ROCKS! Amazing special effects only possible in Second Life, and some of the most incredible RL heroes and heroines I can imagine, just having a blast singing and dancing into your hearts!
