North Hampton Neighborhood Terrorized By Arsonist
A Sunday morning arson spree left two dead and a community in shock. Reports indicate that since 2006 the neighborhoods in a half mile area from the downtown have seen suspicions fires. Past fires were nothing on the scale of Sunday morning 90 minute rampage that left many homeless, two dead and the City of North Hampton MA in fear. A total of 11 fires were reported in a half mile radius of the downtown. People in the community have created a facebook page in an effort to get information out and come together to help those who have been victims of the arsonist. Some people reported that at one point firehouse were locked down as a precaution. Some 14 departments assisted North Hampton Fire Department at one point some coming from almost an hour away. The Massachusetts State Police arson investigators are on scene. A taskforce has also been created made of Local, State and Federal authorities. Governor Deval L Patrick also arrived to thank firefighters and offer state support. Residents of the ward 3 Neighborhood where many of the fires occurred Sunday were warned in November to keep an eye out after a suspicious fire had authorities worried the arsonist may be active again. It is reported that the arsonist targeted houses, cars and a garage in Sunday’s arson spree. The fatal fire was reported at 17 fair Street. The first call came in around 2am for a structure fire on Union Street. A meeting is planned for t he Ward 3 district to set up a community crime watch, that meeting may take place as early as Monday.
