Andi Mills, a woman who lives in Honea Path, S.C., has done everything she knows how to do to rise above her disability. She spent the first five months of 2009 at the South Carolina Commission for the Blind learning adjustment to blindness, Braille, and orientation and mobility, after suddenly losing her vision in 2008. In October she traveled to California to train with her Guide Dog, Tibbs, for a month. She wanted to be as independent as possible. She is trying to go back to school and finish her Bachelors degree. Everything is in place now except a way for her and her Guide Dog to get back and forth  to Lander University in Greenwood, S. C. from Honea Path. There is no public transportation in the area. There have been several stories in the Index Journal, The Anderson Independent Mail, and the Electric City News making the public aware of her desire to find a rideshare or carpooling situation that will get her to school beginning in January. There have been no responses. As a last ditch effort, she is reaching out via the news media to help her find someone willing to share a ride in exchange for sharing gas costs. She hopes someone working in Greenwood and living in the Honea Path, Belton or Anderson area would be willing to carpool with her and Tibbs. She could be at school as early as 7:00 am and could leave as early as 3:00 pm or as late as 4:30 pm. Anyone who might be able to offer assistance can email her at hannahclaire168@gmail.com
