Times Square Snow New Year's Eve 9:45am

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     sjunat55 has lived in New York City for more than 20 years, but says he's only celebrated New Year's Eve in Times Square twice. 'When the ball drops, it's like an earthquake,' he said. 'The amount of people screaming and stomping -- it's amazing.'
    - katie, CNN iReport producer

So in a matter of hours about a million people will welcome 2010 right here. But this morning, it was the snow that covered it!

NYPD officers are being deployed, people are starting to secure their spots...and the snow should turn to rain later on.

A group of friendly tourists from Taiwan asked me to take their picture, and I asked them if I could take theirs in turn. It's their first time in New York City.

Happy New Year from snowy Times Square!
