Turkey conquers (in) Vienna
It's an exciting night for the 150,000 Turks living in the Austrian capital, after having defeated their Croatian opponents in tonights soccer match. Three minutes before the game's end, Croatia got the first goal of the evening, and the Croats were already celebrating. Three seconds before the game was to end, the Turks got their first goal, bringing the score to an even 1-1. The tension and excitement was nearly unbearable and could only be cut by the Turks' great kicking skills in the last final moments of the game, when Turkey got three goals in the 11 meter "kick-off" and beat the Croats 3-1.
Vienna won't sleep tonight--with thousands of happy fans honking and cheering well into the night, it sounds like a wedding parade that never ends. Despite their saddening loss, the atmosphere is so electric that even the Croats are inspired to sing and dance the night away.
