Winter Emergency -- A Modern Miracle
- zdan, CNN iReport producer
Seven Hills Homeless Center is not a homeless shelter -- it has never been a homeless shelter. Rather, it is a day center where staff help homeless people overcome the issues and obstacles that keep them homeless. However, when the cold weather crisis beset NW Arkansas, Seven Hills had to convert without notice into a night shelter.
On Tuesday, Jan. 5, Seven Hills Homeless Center had no blankets, cots, pillows, or sleeping bags. The Seven Hills staff sent out a call to the NW Arkansas community through the print, television and radio media stating their needs.
Within 24 hours, individuals, churches, businesses and non-profit organizations had donated so many materials, they had completely filled two storerooms and the assistant director's office.
This video shows the results of the Miracle of Seven Hills.
