President Obama Accepts Solemn Challenge of America's Security
- hhanks, CNN iReport producer
President Obama accepted the solemn challenge of America's Security and the shortcomings of the system we have in place. Department heads also accepted their responsibilities.
The CIA needs to do some soul searching. After many agents were killed at Forward Operating Base Chapman and dropping the ball on information they had on the "Christmas Day Bomber", they need to renew the spirit in which they were created and once operated during the cold war.
Airport and transportation security must be looked at from two points of view. While it's obvious we want to keep weapons, and bombs off commercial airlines, we must also look at keeping terrorists from boarding commercial airplanes.
Full body scans, metal detectors and dogs will help with the weapons. But on 9/11 we saw that the terrorists defeated our security by simply getting on the planes.
The Israelis have a voice activated lie detector they use to clear passengers for boarding. It's infallible. They've incorporated this technology into glasses that have lights that indicate if a passenger is lying.
We also need, parking lot surveillance and video analytics software installed at every airport.
Most importantly, we must have air marshals on every flight domestically and internationally.
Who would have apprehended the "Christmas Day Bomber" had they discovered him on the flight midway? Air Marshals could have stopped 9/11 had they been on board each flight.
The most important thing we can do is after these measures are in place is to advertise their infalibility.
Terrorists must believe they have no chance of boarding one of our flights. It's only then can we feel safe while flying.
