This iReport is part of an assignment:
Wintry weather near you |
Snapshots from Sunny Florida
The outer banks of North Carolina,,, maybe. The coast of Main or Cape Code,,, for sure. But Pensacola Florida,,, who would have thought it. It got down to 20 degrees last night and the sights around our house this morning proves it. These are photos that I took this morning from my neighborhood of Garcon Point, just east of Pensacola on Escambia Bay. Our house sits on the point, surrounded with water and is right in line with the northerly winds. All of this makes for an unusual sight for our small community; it rarely gets cold enough to freeze the water in a bird bath, much less than all the ice that is clinging to our shore.
Today marks the 8th day of below freezing weather and we are about to break the record for the most consecutive days below freezing. 9 days back in 2001, we are predicted to have at least 3 more days of this type of weather.
