This iReport is part of an assignment:
Morning Express with Robin Meade |
Pump Wear Inc.
We have an amazing company that was created not only by love, but by necessity. My best friend's daughter, Nikki Tyler, was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes 10 years ago. Julie and Mark (Nikki's parents) made the decision to put her on an insulin pump. While they were eager to control Nikki's blood sugars it became apparent that finding something to hold the insulin pump that didn't look medical was next to impossible. Why does a child have to wear a "sterile item". Creating something fun and creative was needed ASAP. Since Julie had a friend that could sew, she was able to put pockets in t-shirts and we knew that the next step would be something cool!
Pump Wear started out with a few items for girls and boys and today we have expanded to 450 products. Since we are all kids at heart, why not let adults have fun! We knew that we were successful when kids who didn't have diabetes wanted our products!
If you haven't had the chance to visit our company, please take a look at www.pumpwearinc.com be prepared to be wowed!
Remember having diabetes doesn't mean you can't be stylish and cool!
