Home Invasion Victims Treated As Criminals

You just have to love the legal system and media on this one. So much for the protection of a victims rights in America!

We are talking about a family of 6, trying to survive in tuff economic times not only victimized by 3 thugs in an armed home invasion, but victimized by a police department, by a police chief and their local media.

    Great job Springfield, Missouri!

The home invasion took place on January 10, 2010 at 2:20 am in Springfield, Missouri and the sad fact is the community media and police department is portraying them as drug dealers instead of victims and disclosing their home address on local media, severely distorting the facts and not even dealing with the severity of this crime in local media!

I was privilege to do a personal interview of each victim in an attempt to tell their side of this disturbing story!

They live in a simple lower middle class neighborhood just a few houses down from a grade school where they planned to raise their 2 year old. A simple family working together in tuff economic times.

At around 2:20 am on a Sunday the young couple was awaken by a knock on the door so they both got up and looked out the peep hole and saw a young black man that looked like a friend of theirs who they have been helping so they unlocked the door lock and proceeded to unlock the dead bolt and as soon as that was done the door was kicked in knocking them both to the ground.

As good parents would do not even considering their own safety they both rushed to their bedroom where their 2 year old son was sleeping, but one of them did not make it as two young men with handguns and bandannas over their face grabbed the father of the child and threw him to the ground and started kicking and beating him.

The 3rd man also with a bandanna over his face jumped on his brother who was sleeping on the couch and putting a gun to his face.

The mother of the child she was trying to protect did make it to the bedroom and locking the door in an effort to protect her child did not last long as one of the home invaders kicked in the door throwing her to the ground as the other dragged the father into the bedroom and began to pistol whip him asking for money, electronics, jewelry, weed and any other valuables!

As this young father was being dragged around like a rag doll, beaten and bloody, fearing for his life, the life of his girl friend and child he yelled out for his dad who was sleeping in the back bedroom with his wife in what they assumed was a safe and secure home!

His dad did make it as far as the living room before he was knocked to the ground with a pistol to his head receiving death threats if he moved.

I’m sure this seemed like an eternity, but angels where looking over this family as the young man’s mom was on the phone with 911 hiding and fearing for her families life.

I’m truly impressed with the response time of the Springfield police department of less than 5 minutes with house surrounded.

As I spoke to the young man’s father he explained that as he was lying on the floor knowing that this situation was proceeding to even get worse than it was as a gun was moved from his temple to the back of his head as on of the assailants said he was going to kill him he closed his eyes and in the background he could here his son being beaten, his son moaning and grasping for air all of a sudden his future daughter in-law was thrown on top of him weeping and sobbing herd one of the assailants yell cops!

Like a bright ray of sunshine all 3 assailants ran out the back door in the hands of the police department.

The family feeling secure and safe now, knowing that all 3 assailants have been caught suddenly faced the mafia style attack of the Springfield Police department.

This family faced hours of questioning and the police literally broke down the young mother verbally, implying that her child would be taken and forcing her to admit that the pound of marijuana they found in their back yard that one of the assailants threw to the ground along with their weapons and other items was the young couple’s marijuana!

The gun in the report was a small pistol that was the young man’s brothers located in his brother’s bedroom, in the closet, secured without bullets. As a matter of fact his brother never purchased any bullets for the gun for the simple fact of the young child! The gun is legal and registered in his name.

They took this family’s rent and utility money just over $800, a silver bar that the young mother got from her dad for her birthday, and 5 Morgan silver dollars that was a gift from the young father’s dad among other things! The silver was in their son’s treasure box for his future when he became 18.

It was the police opinion that the 3 men would have never brought drugs with them on a home invasion and that most home invasions in Springfield are because of people selling drugs!

Really, Springfield Police do you honestly think that criminals are smarter than this?

This is truly sad that victims are treated as criminals.

This couple has no car! Because the family car broke down and was not worth repairing, they have a utility bill of almost $400 and rent of $525. And from my estimates they would have had about $20 left over. No bull I saw the bills.

The family united said they never had a pound of weed and if they did they would have sold it to buy us a car.

I just can not believe that they are made out to be drug dealers; yes the young father said he uses marijuana for personal medical reasons because he suffers from chronic pain in both of his hands and has the surgery scars to prove it! He did not care for the pharmaceutical treatments offered from his doctor!

He said he hurts 80% of the time and had more relief from marijuana then all the narcotics, pain killers, and muscle relaxers all put together.

They are fearful because of the home invasion and the violence behind it, but thanks to the media and police chief comments their fear has been compounded because of their resident’s disclosure to the public, showing pictures of their home on TV and address.

They are now downright scared to death to even go out of their home.

They have all witnessed cars driving by their home going real slow and honking all hours of the night have even caused them to remove their child to a safer location.

They just do not know what to do now, the police did not take statements from everyone affected in the home, did not take pictures of all the injuries and burses and only issued protection orders for his dad, mom and brother but left the young couple out.

On top of all this they live just a few houses down from a grade school and fear a problem because of the false drug dealer title, they fear having an issue with social services, and they fear a damaged reputation in the community, eviction from their landlord and not having money to pay utilities.
