Haitian Professor: World Must Help Haiti!

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     BarbRad told me, ' To have the Palace and Cathedral destroyed leaves Haitians with a sense of hopelessness that may be almost impossible to overcome.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

Yanick St. Jean is a professor of Sociology at Northwest Arkansas Community College.  She was born and raised in Port au Prince, Haiti.

I spoke with Dr. St. Jean today -- 14 Jan. 2010 -- about her childhood in Haitian Catholic schools, her concerns about childhood friends left behind in Haiti, her gratitude at discovering her neice in Haiti was unharmed, her desire to return to Haiti to help rebuild, her sorrow at the destruction of famous landmarks because they are "places of memory and identity", and her plea to the world that ongoing help be given to her beloved homeland.
