SpanglishBaby: The parenting guide to raising bilingual children

Does your child love Dora The Explorer or her animal rescuer cousin, Diego?

The characters of Dora and Diego are fun, animated, educational, and bilingual.  Almost half (47%) of parents, or those planning a family say they have already, or are considering bringing up their children speaking a second language from under the age of seven, according to a poll commissioned by Cilt, the National Centre for Languages.  In her book Raising Bilingual Children (Mars Publishing, 2003), Carey Myles says "Bilingualism has been linked to a variety of positive cognitive benefits, including early reading, improved problem-solving skills, and higher scores on the SATs, including the math section."

You know you want to raise your child bilingual, but where can you find resources, experience, and expert advice?  SpanglishBaby is the parenting guide to raising bilingual children.

SpanglishBaby was founded by bilingual and Latina mothers, Roxana Soto and Ana Flores.  Both Roxana and Ana have extensive experience in the journalism and television fields and created SpanglishBaby from their desire to want to help all parents raising their children bilingual in a "monolingual" society.

SpanglishBaby is a community where parents can share ideas, ask advice, and explore the bilingual culture.  SpanglishBaby features an "Ask an Expert" section where you can get your questions answered by celebrated authors, professors, child psychologists, bilingual speech therapists and bilingual education advocates. Parents can find informative posts about bilingualism, native traditions & cultures, including recipes.  In their continuing effort to assist parents, SpanglishBaby reviews and recommends books, music, movies, and toys.  Connect and embrace the bilingual culture with your children at SpanglishBaby!
