Judge strikes down Prop 8 |
I think Prop 8 Is constitutional
I think whether a law/proposition/legislation is constitutional or not always based on the consent of society in general. Supreme Court rulings would not radically go against what the general societal norm and beliefs are about issues. I think that's been the general trend. I personally agree that Gays and Lesbians should be treated equally, therefore I support receiving same rights in the domestic partnership. But I do not support changing the definition of marriage into anything other than that of which is between a man and a woman. In the UK they have a thing called the Civil Partnership which gives gay/lesbian couples the same rights in their partnership as would marriage, but its not called marriage. Its worked out fine here for the most part, and I think America should give that a try.
