Lightning Strikes near Pittsburgh on 6-26-08
Sadly, there is only one good image I got this time, as yet another storm passes by Pittsburgh.
Speaking of which, there are several more storms on the way. Expect more images to come!
As for details of this image, it was taken about 1 mile East of the Pittsburgh International Airport facing West (The water tower is actually at the Air Force base at the Airport).
It was basically a fluke that I got this image. I was waiting for the storm to arrive, so I started playing around with some of the camera settings to get everything going right. I was playing with the long time exposure setting and testing it against the lighting of the airport. I set the camera on a solid surface, pointed it near the water tower, and set it to a 4 second exposure time. Sure enough, almost right after I set it and had it capture an image, lightning struck right in front of it.
Sadly, most all lightning of this storm was high up in the clouds. Nothing clear to get.
I use a Kodak C743 to capture images.
