IMMIGRATION AND HOMELAND SECURITY
MY VIEW ON IMMIGRATION
And
HOMELAND SECURITY
How many of you have felt that your country has failed you? How many of you really care? What does America mean to you?
I, like many of my thousands of brothers in the military, served in the Armed Forces to help preserve the freedoms we had. America stood for a land full of riches, allowing every citizen to follow his/her dream, and most importantly living in a land with no boundaries or persecution. It was the land of milk and honey envied by the world.
Today, I find myself having to continuously prove that I belong here. Everyday my citizenship in this country is questioned. I did not come from another country – yet I have to prove by tamper proof identification that I belong here. I did not fly a plane into the World Trade Center – yet I have to go through security to prove I am not a terrorist.
Where in the constitution of the United States of America does it say that if our Government fails its citizens that it has a right to impose sanctions on us. Oh yes, it’s called sanctions because if we do not do as the Government tells us - we won’t get what we want.
Illegal immigrants do not have to prove they are U.S. born, terrorist do not go through security screening, yet we “American’s “ are mandated to do so. Where in the constitution does it say all Americans will be subjected to harsh discipline when a foreign government attacks or invades our boarders? Don’t you think it is time for our Government to step up to the plate and make our borders safe not only in immigration but from terrorists so we citizens can go about our normal lives without having to prove who we are?
We can do that very easily by bringing our forces home and deploying them to defend our country instead of someone elses.
