    Big Moon Over Big City

No wolves howling at the full moon in New York City.
Last night's moon was the biggest and brightest of 2010.
The first full moon of the year is known as Wolf Moon, based on a Native American legend of hungry wolves howling at the full moon on cold winter nights.
    And cold it was.
I went up to the top of the Empire State Building - a balmy 18 degrees- and the wind was howling like a hungry wolf.
And there was the sideshow of the city below, the incredible views looking in every direction from New York City's tallest building, an observation deck that is one of the top tourist attactions.
And if you looked closely, a third show, Mars, was visible to the left of the Moon.
But the Moon owned the sky.
And a city below it, on a cold winter evening.
And the Empire State was lit in white, of course.
