National Zoo Bids Farewell to Giant Panda Tai Shan This Week
- katie, CNN iReport producer
On Thursday, the National Zoo bids farewell to Tai Shan, the 4 1/2 year old giant panda cub who is leaving Washington D.C. for China. This week, many visitors who enjoyed watching Tai Shan grow these past 4 years from a baby panda came by the National Zoo to say goodbye.
This weekend the National Zoo hosted a farewell party for Tai Shan that was cut short due to snow. However, there is still an opportunity to see Tai Shan on Monday through Wednesday this week from 10:00AM to 4:30PM at the National Zoo.
On Thursday, Tai Shan will travel to China with a zoo keeper, veterinarian and another 3 year old panda from Zoo Atlanta. Both pandas will be participating in a conservation and breeding program in China.
