This iReport is part of an assignment:
Autism awareness |
Jason's Music
This video is just one of many we've put together for my son Jason. He was born in 1994 and diagnosed with severe Autism by 1996. It has been a blessing, an adventure and a challenge to have him in our lives. So many of our experiences and points of growth as a family have happened because of him.
A child with Autism can be difficult and frustrating. Each stage of development presents a new series of unique problems to overcome. Behavior issues, learning difficulties, etc. become a part of every day life.
I meet people all the time that have a person with Autism in their lives. It seems that it has become more common in the past few years. As the youth of today become the adults and elderly of tomorrow, society needs to take a serious look at what services may be necessary and where funding will come from to assist with such services. People with Autism can learn and be surprisingly productive with the right intervention early on. We need to support all efforts to keep services in place.
