This iReport is part of an assignment:
End of an era for computing giant |
THE NEXT PROBLEM FACING THE EVOLVING WORLD of MICROCOMPUTING
The way I see it is as such:
1. DSL,T1 Connections,Broadband, Cable, and (God Forbid) Dial-up -- are OBSOLETE and LACK TECHNICAL SOUNDNESS as they are a HACKERS BEST FRIEND.
So rather than Bill Gates retiring -- he needs to create a WIFI company -- that sells -- windows based -- ISP SERVICE -- that ALLOWS USERS TO CONNECT IN A WIRELESS WAY...
However -- he needs to make it affordable.
The problem for the middle class, and poor in America -- is that their finances -- oft times -- prevent them from taking advantage of new technology -- until it has been on the market for 5 years and the price has dropped significantly.
Thus we see the poor and middle class families being taken advantage by sharks such as Optimum Online who double bills (in advance) and Cablevision -- who does the same. Then your criminal supers (building maintenance staff) steal the cable rigging it up the side of the row house or condemned apartment shack in which you reside...and you see the cord dangle outside your window.
When you ask they lie and say it is satellite -- but when you cut the cord -- they get fighting mad.
So again -- Mr. Gates -- have mercy on all of the folks in America who do not have a corporate credit card for which they can charge expensive gifts, travel, hotels, cars, meals, and WIFI services (oh did I mention computers, blackberries, and cell phones?) -- and invent a wifi service that does not require a contract -- and -- that doesnt cost a million dollars to activate.
I like TMobile's rates and their service is good. The working class family can afford TMobile Hot Spots -- but chances are -- they wont subscribe -- because IT IS NOT PRACTICAL. Who wants to get home from work, desire to check their email, and have to go to the nearest starbucks -- only to get there and deal with overcrowding and no where to sit (due to junkies that hang out there all day taking the tables)?.
If TMobile or another company came up with an affordable WIFI service that would work with a standard WIFI card -- and it was like 25 to 35 bucks per month -- no contract -- AND THEY WERE ABLE TO UTILIZE IT IN THE PRIVACY OF THEIR OWN HOMES -- that would be great.
Bill you cannot retire yet -- the world wide web of Internet Usage is just getting started....
