Economy Tracker: Your stories |
Overcoming the Odds. Never Give Up!
I love this country. Despite all the problems we have, it is still the best hope of mankind today. Ten months ago I posted an article about having to sell my precious violins given to me by my family in order to help with expenses. ( That's me above at the tender age of six)
Being a violinist it was a difficult thing to do. But it all worked out in the end. The article exploded with over 170,000 views in a short period of time. I was asked to come on Cnn for an interview. Cool!
Of course there were some who thought I was just complaining about a vain thing.
"They are just violins! Stop your whining!" I was told.
I began fixing old antique violins and reselling for some extra cash as well. Several readers thought that was futile. Besides, it was probably my fault for being in this financial mess anyhow, or so I was reminded.
But I am happy to report things are better. Not only was I able to save our finances, and make some sorely needed cash, but I continue to do so, despite a setback six months ago when I had a stoke at the age of 45, I have also regained my health and strength. Despite hardships, life is pretty good. I even managed to find a very good old violin for myself mostly due to the publicity of the first article I posted almost a year ago.
For those suffering in this economy I can only say Don't give up ever. Things will get better. Keep on keeping on, and try to find something you are good at to capitalize on and you can pull yourself out of your ditch too!
