This iReport is part of an assignment:
Ask Dr. Sanjay Gupta |
FAKE DOCTORS IN SOUTH FLORIDA!
I visited a doctor on Friday who seemed to have a scam operation. I should have picked up on warning signs but the price for the physical I couldn't pass up. During the exam none of my questions were answered. He then told me I needed blood work and other test for which he will charge more. When called to his office I noticed what look like a certificate made in Microsoft Office by a 10th grader on the wall. But what really put me off is that this so-called doctor was pulling a diagnosis from wikipedia and google images. He attempted to read and explain but was stuck on the bigger words. The usual paper work which I signed to, when I read it over, stated that he is not taking malpractice coverage which is required by law, but by signing I guess he cannot be held for it. It took long enough but when I put two-and-two togther, I had already swiped my credit card. When I got home and googled his name, it turns out to be another doctor whose real office is in a different location. Be warned! People are out to get you in this hard economic times. I just would really like to know what I can do to legally really find out if this is a scam or how can I go about investigating. He needs to be stopped.
The guy is using the name Barry M. Blumenthal D.O. renting a very small office space on the 10th floor at 1250 E. Hallandale Bch Blvd, FL, 33009.
I feel helpless and would like to know what I can do.
