James Cameron Honored in Santa Barbara

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     MelissaF told me she got the chance to attend this event as a Valentine's gift. She said Cameron was quite humble.
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

James Cameron was honored this past Saturday at the 25th Annual Santa Barbara Film Festival with the Modern Master Filmaker Award.

Leonard Maltin interviewed Cameron for two hours about the history and inspirations of Cameron's movies.  The schedule first called for Cameron to receive the award before the sit down interview, but a surprise guest presenter was tardy.  Maltin a consummate professional was able to keep his wits about him as Cameron teased.

Before Arnold Schwarzenegger, came out to suprise Cameron, the Terminator 2 highlight reel was playing.

The night was full of great insight into such a mastermind of filmmaking.  I left the Arlington Theater with such encouragement as a documentarian.

I spoke with the producer of Avatar and Titanic, Jon Landau.(Tab 4)  He encouraged me to stay in school and learn.  He also signed my screenplay with "Pandora Rocks."

I also met with Leonard Maltin (Tab 5) and Joel David Moore (Tab 6) who played Norm in Avatar at the after party.

It was a great night and I can't wait until the Academy Awards.  I predict a clean sweep by Avatar.
