    "Crazy Heart" Sparks Oscar Nod for Jeff Bridges

    Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges) is a 57 year-old singer/songwriter who was once a star of country music - "Bad" is kind a cross between Kris Kristofferson and Merle Haggard. He is a down and out, alcoholic, chain smoking shadow of his old self, reduced to playing the "dives" of the circuit - from bowling lanes to dirty lounges.

    His love interest is a small time journalist ( Maggie Gyllenhaal) , who is 20 years younger than him.

    But it's her little boy he really falls for, her son brings back memories of the four time divorced father, who has a 26 year old son that he lost contact with several years ago.

    There are great cameos by Colin Farrel, Robert Duvall, and Beth Grant.
