A City Square Welcomes 2010 Badger State Games.
The city square here in Wausau, WI, was busy this weekend. On Friday night the Badger State Games held their opening torch lighting ceremony. On Saturday the square hosted a great snowboarding rail event.
Glad to have attended the opening ceremony. After the lighting of the torch people skated and kept warm with hot chocolate. Local businesses stayed open and good cheer was all around. This city square holds wonderful festivals and events all year round. Its in the heart of downtown and has become a special place for many.
Video shows figure skating competition. It was clear all the athletes were at the top of their game. People across the state had traveled here for these games. Would’ve been impossible to highlight all the great sporting event so wife picked this.
On Saturday I picked where we were heading (compromise is good). It was off to see the snowboarding rail event. Guess where it was held? The city square. Kids competed for great prizes and MTV “Made” took part in filming an episode for an upcoming show.
Great week-end and everything was free. Weather was nice and temps in a comfortable 30-degree range. The entire state was represented well this weekend in Wausau. Great job competitors and organizers!
Thank you to Sheppard & Schaller for helping and Midwest Best snowboarding series for bringing this great snowboarding event in the square! Great job kids!
Thank you to these businesses for helping the Badger State Games come to town.
