Travel Snapshots: Paris |
New Orleans Jackson Square
In December 2005, 3 months after Hurricane Katrina, my dad drove our family down from Baton Rouge to New Orleans to see what the city looked like post-Katrina. We were saddened by the magnitude of the damage but happy to see the famous Cafe du Monde open for business, as well as several groups of musicians playing jazz in the streets.I saw this string bass resting against a doorway in Jackson Square (a park in the French Quarter). Its tattered case was held together with duct tape, but I have no doubt that on the inside it was ready to make music!
