Avalanche hits camp,Officer, 20 Troopers Killed At Gulmarg
Aleast 20army troopers, including an officer, lost their lives and 15 others were injured when a massive avalanche smashed into the army’s high altitude warfare camp at Khilanmarg in the upper reaches of the world famous tourist resort of Gulmarg.
The avalanche struck at about 11 am Monday when about 350 soldiers of the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS), Gulmarg were on their way to the training camp.
The dead included an officer, Lt Prateek, and twelve other ranks from HAWS.
20 bodies have been recovered so far and the rescue operations are still on.
