Artist Makes Big Bet
Ted Stanke has been playing the art game for long enough to put together a really good hand, and he's ready to cash in his chips. Unbeatable? You decide.
Ted has staked one year of his life on a project of grand proportions. Using a method that took him years to invent, Stanke is creating an entire deck of playing cards from chopped American coins. The individual cards are then sold on Ebay. 52 cards, 52 weeks. This kind of art helps the economy by converting low-value coins into priceless artwork.
As the year progresses, Ted bets the prices will rise. To encourage competition amongst his collectors, as well as to stimulate repeat buyers, Stanke is offering the Joker Card as a trophy to whoever has the best hand at the end of the year.
The project has reached it's 10th week, and the prices have ranged from 50 to 150 dollars. Please help spread the word about this ambitious project, you can make Ted famous by sharing this on Facebook.
