Fantastic Performance-nearly 56 MPG
According to some so-called car experts the Prius performs better in street traffic than on the highways at high speeds. My 2005 Prius does the opposite and I heard the same from a friend as well. At sale I was told that it will do about 45 MPG on highways and 54 MPG in city traffic. (Unlike conventional cars that would do better on the highway than on streets.)
I just arrived home from a long interstate drive. On the last 199 miles the performance was 55.9 MPG. I have never seen it go that high, not even from Flagstaff to Phoenix, which is mostly downhill. This time I was on US-60 coming from New Mexico, up and down moutains, back and forth switchbacks and a variety of speed limit changes. My car has outperformed any expectation. Interestingly, I used to buy the middle-grade gasoline, but lately I buy the cheapest, because it is so expensive. Evidently my car likes it.
When I saw the MPG on the screen, I had to stop and immortalize the moment. Hence I am sending you the picture I took of the dashboard screen. Prius rocks!!!
