    Massive protest at UCLA

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Pixel told me, 'Every step matters is what I got out of their demonstration. Many people were captivated by it. It seemed to speak louder than many of the chants.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

A protest was held today at UCLA, as well as Universities throughout California.  Students, faculty, and workers all joined together for this national day of action. At UCLA there were rallies, marches, faculty sit outs, speeches, and peaceful protests from many groups.  Everywhere on the UCLA campus you could find something going on to contribute to the significance of this day.  I was struck by the diverse nature of the demonstrations. Some students  chanted with loudspeakers: "the mighty, mighty students, fighting for justice and education"  "No cuts, no fees, education should be free"  I was fortunate to witness the most unique march. These students, in slow motion; step by step, peacefully made their way across the courtyard, musicians playing behind them. By sheer coincidence, the clock tower chimed in the background, marking the importance that each minute can make, and each step we take towards what we believe in.
