Haiti earthquake aftermath |
College Kids Collect Used Legs for Haiti
Thousands of Haitian survivors have lost their limbs since the earthquake hit on January 12. Professor Tom Costello and the Biological Engineering Club of the University of Arkansas want to help them regain mobility.
On Saturday, March 6, Costello and his students collected used prosthetic limbs, crutches, wheel chairs and the like to be boxed up and sent to Physicians for Peace in Virginia. There, as part of its Walking Free program, Physicians for Peace will send the limbs and people to adjust them down to their clinics in Haiti.
