Escape from Dementialand
My job as caregiver ended early Saturday morning. BJ died peacefully as I held him in my arms. After decades of suffering, he is free of physical pain and the terrifying chaos of dementia extinguished. I imagine his happy excitement as he reunites with family and friends, surrounded by his countless beloved dogs and horses, cows and goats, peacocks and rheas(!) and ducks and chickens. He's in heaven. I miss him.
