    Rene Preval Talks to Obama

Léogâne, Haiti: According to a report published on 8 March 2010 by Reuters, the Haitian President René Préval will be in Washington this Wednesday 10 March 2010 to urge Obama to stop the donations of food to Haiti. According to René Préval, the Haitian economy is and will stay affected by the uncontrollable flow of these donations in food and water to a population in dire needs.

Préval will profit of this occasion to thank the international committee for their quick intervention to come to the help and rescue of the Haitians after the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that displaced over 1.2 million people, crippled the economy, and devastated much of the capital Port-au-Prince, Léogâne, and many other cities.

"I will tell him (Obama) that this first phase of assistance is finished," said Preval, standing in front of the ruined presidential palace in Port-au-Prince.

"If they continue to send us aid from abroad -- water and food -- it will be in competition with the national Haitian production and Haitian commerce," he said.

At last, he (Préval) will announce to the world that his priority is job creation and he will not take advantage of such an historical event to reinvent his beloved country.

It seems that Obama and the international committee understand that they are no longer needed in Haiti because they are packing their field hospitals and personnel in order to return to their respective country. In the meantime, the Haitians are uncertain about their tomorrow.

Haiti was proudly represented by Wyclef Jean and the Compas mogul Tabou Combo during the 2010 NAACP awards. As this day approaches, the entire Haitian community hopes that Préval will use intelligent tact to diligently deliver the needs of Haiti before Obama, the White House, the United States, and the rest of the world.

Note: Food and employment were scarce in Haiti even before the earthquake of 12 January 2010.
