I am...
March 10, 2010 | New York City, New York | Vetting explained
Me. Lots of people assume that being trans is being a choice. They also seem to treat me as an object rather than a person. For the longest time, when looking in a mirror, I didn't recognize the person staring back at me. As I've been going through my transition, I've begun to see the person I am as I've always seen in my mind's eye.
Do you see me now?

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
