NCRI - The Governor of Tehran province, Morteza Tamaddon, exposed fears about the Iranian people’s expected uprising on the last Wednesday of the Iranian calendar year, saying there are some who want to perform “dangerous acts” in order to transform the last Wednesday of the year into an “unusual day,” the state-run news agency Fars reported on Monday. The final Wednesday of the Iranian year marks the traditional ceremony of Fire Festival (March 16).

Tamaddon warned that the regime “is planning to [confront protests] by making pre-emptive measures and expanding security.”

According to obtained reports from inside Iran, fearful of the expansion of protests during the Fire Festival, the suppressive State Security Forces (SSF) have begun motorbike patrols across Tehran. They have intensified the patrols to fight against distributors and sellers of recreational explosives and fireworks, which are used by the youths to celebrate Fire Festival.

The state-affiliated Raja News website, which is close to the faction o the regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, wrote on Tuesday: “In its most recent message to its contacts in the country, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has asked for full preparation to incite disorder and riots under the pretext of celebrating the last Wednesday of the year.”

Raja News added: “Recently, the PMOI turned a part of its message into SMS texts for its domestic contacts and some citizens, and called for ‘turning celebrations on the last Wednesday of the year into a fiery uprising’ against the establishment.”

The state-affiliated website noted: “Satellite stations have made it their priority to broadcast training to organize the youths to incite clashes and chaos.”

Separately, a group of students at the Free University in Tehran released a statement condemning silence and surrender vis-à-vis the clerical regime’s Supreme Leader and called on Iranians to transform the Fire Festival into a day of confrontation with the clerical dictatorship.

The students’ statement reads in part: “Freedom-loving youths of Iran did not give their lives so that we can exercise silence.” It added: “The Fire Festival can become a spontaneous popular referendum with the uproar of chants of ‘death to dictator’ and ‘death to Khamenei’ on the streets of our occupied homeland.”
