    Das dunkle Gewölbe an der kleinen Bockenheimer Straße gehört schon seit Jahrzehnten zum Club-Inventar in Frankfurt. Und obwohl der Jazzkeller schon kurz vor dem freien Fall stand, ist ihm sein Publikum die ganzen Jahre über treu geblieben. Selbst Louis Armstrong hat den rauchigen, kleinen und immer gut gefüllten Keller schon besucht. Aber auch andere Größen sind mit dem Jazzkeller aufgewachsen. So gründete Albert Mangelsdorff dort sein berühmtes Quintett. Heute erinnern Fotos und Zeitungsausschnitte an eben solche Zeiten. Die Passion für Jazz und deren musikalische Ableger führen immer noch viele Gäste in die Räumlichkeiten des Jazzkellers. Das Publikum lässt sich nicht in eine Schublade stecken. So treffen wir dort Business-People, neben denen Szene-Girls tanzen, während sich an der Bar der Werbetexter mit dem Student bei einem Bier unterhält. Sie alle steigen die Treppen hinunter, um ausgiebig und ausgelassen ihrer Musik zu lauschen. Die erschwinglichen Getränke, die improvisierten Sitzmöglichkeiten und die niedrigen Eintrittspreise machen den schmucklosen Keller zu einem beliebten Platz für jedermann. Gerne lässt man hier die alten Zeiten noch einmal aufleben oder gibt sich dem Jazz der Neuzeit hin. Die Gäste pflegen einen familiären Umgang miteinander, keine Spur von Aggressionen, die in anderen Lokalitäten des Nachtlebens fast schon gängig geworden sind. Einfach eintauchen und treiben lassen, den Rest erledigt die Musik. (PUR)
