It’s only a few days to St Patrick’s Day, which is on March 17, and people in SL are already decorating their sims to celebrate in the best of Irish traditions.   I travelled over to a site called St Patrick’s Day Town, and as I landed there, the bright emerald green landscape looked full of promise, as I could see pots of gold at the end of a very colourful SL rainbow.  You can buy all the St Patrick’s Day items there that you would need to decorate your own virtual home, banners, balloons, lights and lots more.   I walked over to the gold money pot and I could see and hear the large coins falling to the ground all around me.  I clicked on one of the glowing coins and took a ride on it, which was fun.  In the distance a pair of Leprechauns were dancing an Irish jig and people were taking turns to join in.  The small shops are also emerald green and look like something the Leprechauns had built, the trees have four leaf clovers instead of ordinary leaves so lets hope they bring the visitors luck.  It’s an enchanting place to visit and there seems to be new attractions added each day.

A well established piece of Ireland in SL is the ever popular Dublin sim.  The tavern seems crowded no matter what time of day or night you visit.  They already have some decorations up for St Patrick’s Day and when I teleported over I was lucky enough to catch the end of a live performance by an amazing singer called Stella Silvansky.  Stella had an awesome voice and the crowd loved her.  They make you very welcome in the tavern and if you are going to celebrate Ireland’s big day in SL, I would imagine virtual Dublin would be a good place to start. 

No doubt there will be many sites celebrating St Patrick’s Day and I plan to explore as many as I can.  Virtual London will be holding Irish themed parties in the clubs and ‘The Greyhound Pub’ in Virtual Kensington are having an ‘open mic night’ so be sure to down a few pints of virtual Guinness in the bar to give you some extra courage before you treat us to a lovely Irish Ballad.   I hope everyone has a great St Patrick’s Day both in real life and Second Life.
