Anderson Livsey Elementary School Opens Its Doors For The First Time Only To The Namesake Families

Here is a story of the merging of the finest Georgia public educational system with a loyalty of a Historic local community, along with a compromise.

Pictured: l-r , ( Willie Anderson, Dorethia Livsey, Tom Livsey, Dr. McClure, Gwinnett Board Of Education, Karen (Anderson) Archer, Chad Livsey, Jim Steele, Gwinnett County Public Schools Chief Operations Officer)

Gwinnett County School System is the largest and most successful educating system in the state of Georgia. With over 123 public schools in its domain.

Gwinnett County Board of Education reconsidered its gigantic size , when it came to recognizing the county's minority families in 2010.

If Gwinnett County can do this, its should be embraced with every county , not just in Georgia , but the counties nationwide.

For to educate a child should be our national , if not our universal aim . Its about the children, and not about the adults this decade. Can I hear a "Heck Yes" !

For beginning in August 2010, Gwinnett County Public Schools welcomed at least two brand new schools named after three proud contributing county minority families.

Robbie Moore Middle School in Lawrenceville, and Anderson Livsey Elementary School in South Gwinnett within its county.

If we are to teach our children, let start with showing our degree of knowledge of understanding our community's racial differences, by educating them the same way.

On March 11, 2010, the two families of the brand new Gwinnett County Promised Land school named Anderson Livsey Elementary, (The Anderson and the Livsey families), were given the first glance into the enormous school of education for decades to come.

Dr. McClure, (Gwinnett Board Of Education), Mr. Jim Steele, ( Gwinnett Public Schools) and  Mr. John Hodgson, (Gwinnett Public Schools,Planning and Construction), showed the brand new school to Mr. Willie Anderson and his daughter, Karen, along with Dorethia, Chad , Tom and Thomas Livsey ( however he was not present due to back pain).

Aw's and Haw's were quickly replaced with pertinent questions about the school.

Each family member contributed intriguing questions. However, not too many, because of the complete informative answer filled tour that Mr. Jim Steele, Dr. McClure and Mr. John Hodgson had prepared for the two families.

At the end,  both families committed their whole  family's worth to make their community support of the Promised Land first county school, a lasting focus for decades to come.
