This iReport is part of an assignment:
Sound-off |
Mr. President
Stronger President needed not a stronger presidency
Working with the party is one thing, being slave to it is another thing alltogether. We need a man in office whose deliberations we can trust (like Obama), but who is strong enough to avoid the temptation of party politics (unlike Obama).
Having the President lead both the nation and the Democratic Party platform is not only a conflict of interest, but downright risky ... 'when one body of government acts in collussion with another, the separations of power is jeopordized along with the longterm security of the Union.'
This audio calls for President Obama to make a stand for the concerns of the American public. After all, this is what got him elected.
Let the House vote as they wish, encourage improvements upon failed legislation, move on to other important issues, and avoid fixating upon established political planks; especially, those well-worn from the friction of political faction.
