    Transgender messages

Don't destroy people's lives because of a letter

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     becca217 said, 'The struggle is to bring society along to realize what we already know. We are wonderful, beautiful people who deserve to be treated with the same love and respect as anyone else.'
    - jsarverCNN, CNN iReport intern

Even in places where trans-folk have some civil rights protections, the arbitrary governmental hoops make it nearly impossible to be treated fully as citizens. We are treated as liars, "freaks" and terrorists because a name or gender marker on a resume or government document doesn't match what someone else perceives us to be. That M or F on a document, regardless of surgical status, too often is used to off-handedly discriminate against us.
