Puerto Rico Tot Mom?
On Tuesday, March 9th, 8 year old Lorenzo Gonzalez was bashed in the face while sleeping next to his 5 year old sister between 2 and 4am. The mother brought the child to the hospital claiming he fell from his bed. Later she said to authorities the child had gotten hit in school. According to the coroner’s report, he arrived at the hospital an hour and a half after the blow and pronounced dead as a result of bleeding to death. Investigators say mom is not cooperating. Although she said no one else was in the house that night, investigators have confirmed she had 2 guests, an Immigration agent and an engineer who works for General Electric, who claim to have left around 1am. Romantic involvement with one of them is suspected but not admitted by the parties. In addition, investigators have indicated the scene of the crime was altered, and "crack" was found in the house. In addition to being a sad, senseless, brutal murder of a defenseless child in his sleep left to die for 2 hours in agony, the case takes on particular intrigue as this was a middle class family from an exclusive neighborhood with ties to PR Governor Luis Fortuno.
The parents have been in the process of divorcing and have been living separated for over a year. The father dropped of Lorenzo around 8pm that same evening after soccer practice and some ice cream in perfect condition. He has been visibly destroyed over the incident but was successful in stopping the cremation of his son against the wishes of the mother. One can only pray for at least closure in a case like this when equitable justice for Lorenzo and those that loved him dearly can never really be obtained.
