    Gayundah wreck

This is a photo of HMQS Gayundah from the top of the cliffs. It is near Scott's Point (Woody Point) on the Redcliffe Peninsula, just north of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. Woody Point is where Matthew Flinders landed in 1799.

The ship was originally a warship. It took to the water in 1885 and was decommissioned in 1958.

My mum says the ship was wrecked at the bottom of the cliffs on purpose, way before she can remember. It's supposed to help prevent the erosion of the cliffs. When mum was a kid there was enough of the ship left that they could climb on it and explore inside it.
