CNN producer note

sjunat55 told me, 'In what was a great Irish day, people from many countries were there taking in the music, dances and food, NYC and the Irish, of course, go way back in the city's history.'

iReport —
On Sunday March 14th the Irish Arts Center in New York City held its St. Patrick's Open Day 2010.
The celebration featured Irish music and dance performances, animated short film screenings, an Irish language introductory class for kids, arts and crafts and face painting and Irish food.
Then, there was the whistle workshop.
Flutist and private instructor Kate Bowerman conducted a whistle class for adults and kids, who followed her note by note instructions and at the end performed several traditional tunes.
Located on 51st Street off 11th Avenue in Manhattan, the Center has been promoting Irish culture for many years, through educational programs, art exhibitions, theatrical and musical performances, film screenings and Irish language classes.
During this early celebration of St. Patrick's Day, in a city with a very big Irish heart and population, the Irish Arts Center hosted both its members and visitors in a display of all things Irish.
