    Transgender Terminology

    Thank you for bringing the transgender experience to the news as an intelligent and non-judgmental series.

     

    This is an area of interest for me personally and professionally.  Terminology is important to create a positive and open atmoshpere for honest sharing.  I was corrected when I first started my study about terminology:

    Are you Maled? Femaled? Transgendered?

    No.

    We are Male, Female or Transgender.

    This small change of only two letters is important in recognizing transgender as a gender rather than a condition.
