Sunset over Thingvellir, Iceland 1/1/2010
Local time: approx 2:30 PM. Sunset at Thingvellir, Iceland on New Years Day, 2010. This location is Iceland's version of, say, Independence Hall in the US -- the birthplace of the Icelandic nation.
It also straddles the two continental plates that separate Europe from North America...the plates are moving apart as approximately 2 - 3 cm a year. So, yes, Iceland is growing.
PS: Thingvellir is pronounced "think-with-it" or at least close to that...
