Support For Health Care Reform Is Up in the Polls
Support for Health Care Reform is gaining momentum in the most recent polls thanks to a clear direction and support from town hall speeches from President Obama. Putting a human face on the reform was all that was needed to gain widespread support. Support is climbing rapidly.
March 10TH, 2010
"A Gallup poll released yesterday showed the public nearly tied, with 48% wanting to see their representative vote against reform, and 45% wanting to see their rep vote for it. That's hardly the result one would expect if Americans had fundamentally rejected the plan, as Republican talking points argue."
"As the process nears an end, it's worth noting that the trend lines don't look that bad. In fact, they seem to be getting better quickly. The black line on this graph shows support for health care reform starting to grow, and the red line, showing opposition, starting to shrink."

Oh, aren't the GOP just worried as hell right now. Sweating bullets. Even PRAYING for failure. Getting desperate. You can hear the desperation in John Boehner's voice, "Americans don't want this! Democrats will pay at the polls." Here's why:
Healthcare WILL pass and Dems will be REWARDED for it. Poll numbers have been down on Dem healthcare for one reason:
A diverse caucus that has struggled to gel on a bill. Now that is happening, flawed as it is, and it will pass. Dems will not allow an historic opportunity to get by them.
In the meantime, the GOP have had a much easier job because all they have had to do is lie, obstruct, and run negative ads against it. The Right Wing have all been in lockstep against anything the Dems have tried to do to advance the country.
The GOP strategy has been: "Make the Dems look ineffective even with their majorities. The public, especially Independents, will see them as ineffectual, and they will turn back to us."
This was clearly the strategy articulated by Jim DeMint in his prediction, "The failure of health care will be Obama's Waterloo" statement.
Well guess what GOP? Your strategy is crumbling under your sad, wretched little feet and you are scared! The healthcare bill will pass, because it is already gaining in popularity. Americans want action and not obstruction.
The GOP will have the T.E.A. Party to contend in November. Conservatives against liberal Republicans. Republicans will find it difficult to find their way back to DC from the precipice they're positioned on after failing on health care and splitting the vote with the "More Conservative than Thou" TEA Party Candidates this Fall.
Approval ratings for Congressional Dems are already climbing back up. Individual provisions of the bill DO poll high, and it will continue to gain as people become more familiar with it. A Public Option would clinch it and cap the democrats' success.
There will also be a new jobs bill and an energy bill passed going into 2010. And the economy will be slowly gaining throughout 2010. The best theme Dems can and should use is: "We are WORKING to SOLVE PROBLEMS MADE BY THE GOP. They are the "DO NOTHING" Party!"
2010 will end well for Democrats with some small GOP gains, but it will be no "wave" by any means, and Dems will continue in the majority in both chambers.
In fact, Dems stand a chance to pick up several former GOP seats. Americans want ACTION, not OBSTRUCTION. This is really a great opportunity for Dems. And President Obama's number are climbing. Choke on it GOP. And you think it will be the Democrats' and Obama's Waterloo. Checkmate!
