Passions over health care reform |
Healthcare Rally in Scottsdale (Two opposing rallies)
- hhanks, CNN iReport producer
Today, March 16 2010 there were two opposing heathcare reform rallies near Rep. Harry Mitchell's office in Scottsdale, AZ. I was on the pro reform side, on the opposite corner there was a rally opposing the reform, I guess a Tea Party rally. (Mitchell, a Democrat, is for the reform and we thanked him.)
Note the donkey hanging by the neck on the rope. Both crowds were very loud, chanting, shouting, whistling, waving their signs. Note the big sign of the opposition: "Harry, are you with Obama, or are you with us?" (My camera does not record sound, sorry, it is silent.)
Well, if I were Harry Mitchell, I would answer: " Believe it or not, I am for the reform and I am for you. You may not realize it, but the reform is for you."
All four corners of Camelback Rd. and Scottsdale Rd. were occupied by ralliers. I am not sure who were on the far corner though. Drivers honked, gestured (some not so nice) and passers-by made all sorts of comments, many were positive, at least where I was located.
I sure hope that the reform will become reality. I wish it were Universal Healthcare, but this will do for now. I and thousands of other volunteers put a lot of work into this reform and I hope we can soon celebrate. Go Obama, go!
