    LOST: Season 6, Episode 8 - Recon

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     sbeasla iReports her thoughts on the final season of 'Lost' each week.
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

This week's yawn fest was about Sawyer. Yes, I said yawn fest.  After disappearing from the screen and finally getting some Sawyer action, the writers fall short and fail to impress. Each week appears to be hit and miss and next weeks, Richard Alpert episode (another highly anticipated debut) better not disappoint.

I'm done with my rant. Let's move onto the review. We see our beloved Sawyer on the island making tea for Jin (aww) who is still very much alive and resting in Claire's tent.

Back on the mainland, Sawyer is in bed with another pretty lady, he gets out of bed, a suitcase flies open and we hear the famous lines "you weren't supposed to see that." Sawyer is back to his con man ways?

Or maybe not. He utters the secret code words "LeFleur." The same name he used in the 70's as head of security at the Dharma Initiative and Miles (his sidekick) again from the Dharma Initiative breaks in and saves him, tosses him his badge, and we learn Sawyer isn't a con man but a detective for the LAPD. Interesting flash sideways difference but not enough to hold my attention.

Back on the island, the Man in Black sends Sawyer on a mission to the island where he and Kate were held in cages by the others. He arrives and gets sentimental after seeing the cages and Kate's dress. Is the old romance going to pick up again? Before we can speculate, he spots the Ajira plan, a pile of dead bodies, and a lone survivor named Zoey. Only, she's not a survivor but part of a team brought on a submarine by Charles Widmore.

Widmore and Sawyer strike a deal. Sawyer still wants off the island but wants the Man in Black and Widmore to fight to the finish while he and Freckles (yes, Kate has gotten her nickname back) escape in the sub.

Back on the mainland, we see Sawyer on a date with Charlotte (who was part of a team sent earlier on the island by Widmore but later dies). The date ends badly when she discovers a file named "Sawyer" and gets kicked out at 3am.  It appears Sawyer is still hunting down the con man who led to his family's death.

Unfortunately, I was really expecting the mystery date to be Juliet. Especially after she said "maybe we'll meet for coffee" before her death.  She never appeared instead we find Kate, the runaway fugitive who encounters Sawyer after she crashes her car into him and takes off running.

In this episode, we found our con man in quite the dilemma. He wasn't just conning others, but himself and at the risk of losing his friends until he finally decided to come clean and not be the con man when he tells his partner Miles the reason why he went to Australia - he was chasing a lead.

Other highlights came from Claire as she makes a feeble attempt to stab Kate while Sayid morbidly looks on and does nothing. The Man in Black rescues her and proceeds to share a tale about his own crazy mother and sadly tells Kate that Claire is also going insane or is insane then imagine Kate's surprise when she gets a hug from Claire randomly in the jungle during a walk.

Another LOST episode where we have yet to learn anything. Only 8 episodes remain and hopefully, next week we'll learn quite a bit after Richard Alpert's story is finally revealed.
