    What really is an American?

I just read about an American-born Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki who wants to start a Jihad against American's. The funny thing is he was born one and everyone he knew as he grew up was an American. He may have also been a Muslim, but he was still an American. Now he decides he can get some people to put him on a pedestal by condemning others they hate. His own hateful message is the personification of evil in itself. His country of origin taught him, fed him and protected him and now he apparently is trying to create a new occupation fueled by hate against that country. Does he hate every single America? Just a couple? Ones with 11 toes? Where does he draw the line? Does he think every single Muslim is perfect? Does he hate some of them too? Does he realize that Muslims in the USA are Americans too? Are they exempt  from his hate?

I also see people calling non-Democrats immoral and right wing nuts and Tea Bagger's and how un-American they are because they don't follow in lock step. When does someone think so much of themselves that they can make a ruling that an entire country or specific group is evil by nature of nationalism or belief's? No group of any people thinks exactly the same and yet some individuals think they can persuade others to demonize whoever they feel isn't acting as they like. Are all the innocent children that are Americans evil too? How evil could they really be? People need to think clearly when someone is intent on creating negative images of certain people or groups of people with the sole purpose of harm. Harm can be physical, psychological, financial or even damage to their reputation or livelihood. Please remember to THINK for yourself when someone expresses their OPINION about another person or group. When you do you will see that we all have an OPINION and it means nothing more than that - an OPINION. I am proud to be an American and I do not think I am evil. I also think for myself . You should too.
